Bethnal Green was a special area in London that used to choose a person to represent it in the UK Parliament. This area, called a parliamentary constituency, was in the Bethnal Green part of the East End of London.

The Bethnal Green area has been part of the County of London since 1889. Before that, it was part of an older county called Middlesex.

When the Bethnal Green constituency was first created in 1950, it covered the whole Metropolitan Borough of Bethnal Green. This was a local government area within the County of London.

In 1955, some parts of the Metropolitan Borough of Hackney were added to the constituency. These parts included areas known as Triangle, Victoria, and Wick.

Later, in 1965, Bethnal Green became part of a bigger area called the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. This was when Greater London was formed. Hackney also became a larger area called the London Borough of Hackney.
