Beto Barbosa comes from a family with Lebanese roots. He started his music career in his hometown of Belém. Later, he moved to Fortaleza, Ceará, where he found his first big successes. While there, he also took part in community activities.

In the 1980s, Beto Barbosa became very famous with his song "Adocica." This song, along with the band Kaoma, helped start the huge popularity of Lambada music. Lambada is a lively dance and music style from Brazil.

Throughout his career, Beto Barbosa has won many awards. He was the only singer from northern Brazil to win the important Troféu Imprensa award for best singer. This shows how talented he is.

As of July 2025, Beto Barbosa has recorded 22 albums. He has sold more than 6 million records, which is a huge achievement! His musical heroes were the famous Brazilian singer Roberto Carlos and the American rock and roll legend Elvis Presley.

In 2022, Beto Barbosa appeared on the reality singing show The Masked Singer Brasil. On the show, he performed while dressed up as a boto, which is a type of river dolphin found in the Amazon.
