Fatuma binti Baraka (born around 1910 – died April 17, 2013), known to many as Bi Kidude, was a very famous singer from Zanzibar, Tanzania. She was often called the "queen of Taarab and Unyago music". These are traditional music styles from East Africa.
Bi Kidude was born in a village called Kitumba in Zanzibar. Her family later moved to Mfagimaringo. Her father sold coconuts for a living. We don't know her exact birth date, and some parts of her life story are not fully confirmed. However, many believed she was the oldest singer still performing around the world before she passed away.
In 2005, Bi Kidude won a special award called the WOMEX award. This award recognized her amazing contributions to music and culture in Zanzibar. Her life and music were also featured in two documentaries made by filmmaker Andrew Jones.
