Bianca Giteau (born Franklin) is a former Australian netball player. She played as a Goal Attack (GA) or Goal Shooter (GS). Bianca was known for her skill and dedication on the court. She played for several top teams during her career.
Bianca's Netball Journey
Bianca started her professional netball career in 2002. She joined the Perth Orioles team. From 2003 to 2005, she played for the Canberra Darters. The AIS stands for the Australian Institute of Sport. It is a special place where athletes train to become the best.
In 2006, Bianca moved to the Melbourne Kestrels. These teams were part of a big competition called the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. She also represented Australia. Bianca played for the Australian Under 21 (U21) team in 2004 and 2005.
Playing in the ANZ Championship
Later, Bianca played in the ANZ Championship. This was a major netball league. She played for the West Coast Fever from 2008 to 2010. After that, she joined the Adelaide Thunderbirds in 2011. Her time with these teams showed her talent and hard work in netball.
Awards and Family Connections
Bianca Giteau is an Indigenous Australian. She has received special recognition for her achievements. In 2003, she won an ATSIC award. This award recognized her as the Young Achiever of the Year for Western Australia. She was also nominated for Female Sportsperson of the Year in 2006 at The Deadlys. The Deadlys were awards that celebrated Indigenous Australian excellence.
Bianca comes from a sporting family. Her younger brother is Australian rules footballer Lance "Buddy" Franklin. He is a very famous player in the AFL.
In May 2009, Bianca got engaged to rugby union player Matt Giteau. She met Matt at the Australian Institute of Sport. They got married in December 2010 on the Gold Coast. Bianca and Matt have three children together: Levi, Kai, and Winter.
