Big Ideas was a cool Canadian TV show from TVOntario that started way back in 2001. It was all about sharing smart ideas and big thoughts with everyone! What Was Big Ideas?

Big Ideas was a unique television series that aimed to bring important discussions to a wide audience. It was created by Wodek Szemberg. The show was known for presenting public lectures. Who Hosted the Show?

Over the years, Big Ideas had a few different hosts who guided the discussions. The first host was Irshad Manji. Later, on January 7, 2006, a Canadian actor and writer named Andrew Moodie took over. Then, in September 2011, Piya Chattopadhyay became the new host. Each host helped make the show engaging and easy to follow.

The Best Lecturer Award

In 2007, Big Ideas even held a special competition! It was called the Best Lecturer competition. This was the second time they had done it. The winner of this exciting award was Michael Persinger. He was a professor from Laurentian University.

Where Could You Find Big Ideas?

Even if you missed the show on TV, you could still catch up! Big Ideas made podcasts of their lectures available online. You could find them on the Big Ideas website. They were also available on iTunes, which made it easy to listen to the talks whenever you wanted. It's interesting to know that "Big Ideas" is also the name of other shows. There was an unrelated series on PBS in 2003. Also, a radio show with the same name aired on Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Radio National.

Why Did Big Ideas End?

Sadly, the Big Ideas TV show came to an end in the spring of 2013. This happened because of budget cuts at TVO. Even though the show stopped, its goal of sharing knowledge and big ideas with people was a great success for many years.
