Big Kimshew Creek is a cool stream located in northern California, in the United States. It's about 11 miles (18 km) long. This creek starts high up in the Sierra Nevada mountains, specifically in the Lassen National Forest. From there, it flows generally southwest.

Big Kimshew Creek eventually empties into the West Branch Feather River. This river is part of the larger Feather River system, which is a big and important river in Northern California. The creek is famous for its exciting whitewater rapids and beautiful waterfalls. The amount of water flowing in the creek changes a lot throughout the year. It's highest in spring when snow melts from the mountains. It can be much lower in the autumn.

Geography of Big Kimshew Creek

Big Kimshew Creek begins in a grassy area called a meadow. This spot is about 1 mile (1.6 km) northwest of a place called Table Mountain. This area is at the very southern edge of the Lassen National Forest.

As the creek flows, it moves south and enters a deep, narrow valley known as a gorge. Along its journey, other smaller streams join it. First, Keyser Creek flows into it from the right side. Soon after, Little Kimshew Creek joins from the left.

After Little Kimshew Creek joins, Big Kimshew Creek turns west. Then it turns southwest again. It flows through a valley that is more than 1,200 feet (370 meters) deep! Another stream, Little Rock Creek, also joins the creek. Finally, Big Kimshew Creek reaches its end where it meets the West Branch Feather River. This meeting point is about 2.5 miles (4.0 km) south of a town called Stirling City.
