About Bill Granger's Career
Bill Granger started his journey in the late 1980s. He moved from Melbourne to Sydney to study art. While studying, he worked as a waiter. Soon, his interest shifted from art to the world of food.
Opening Restaurants
In 1993, Bill opened his first restaurant called Bills. It was in Darlinghurst, a suburb of Sydney. This restaurant quickly became famous for its breakfast, especially its creamy scrambled eggs. Many people loved his unique approach to simple dishes.
Bill opened a second restaurant, Bills Surry Hills, in 1996. His third restaurant was Bills Woollahra. Bills in Sydney is also known for being one of the first places to serve avocado toast back in 1993.
Bill's restaurants became very popular. In 2008, he opened his first Bills restaurant outside Australia, in Japan. He had lived in Japan for six months before this. Over time, he opened eight more restaurants across Japan. These were in cities like Tokyo, Yokohama, and Osaka.
In 2011, Bill opened his first restaurant in the United Kingdom, called Granger & Co. It was in London. He opened another London restaurant in 2014. That same year, he also opened a new Bills restaurant in Hawaii. He then opened his first restaurant in Seoul, South Korea, and later a second one there.
