William Martin (born August 16, 1962) is an American former professional basketball player. He was a tall forward, standing 6 feet 7 inches (201 cm) and weighing 205 pounds (93 kg). Bill played college basketball at Georgetown University from 1981 to 1985.

College Years at Georgetown
Bill Martin was a talented player during his time at Georgetown University. He played for the Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team from 1981 to 1985. During his college career, Bill helped his team achieve a major victory. In 1984, he was part of the team that won the NCAA Championship. This is a huge achievement in college basketball! In 1985, he was also recognized as a Second-team All-Big East player.
Starting in the NBA
After his successful college career, Bill Martin was chosen in the 1985 NBA draft. The Indiana Pacers picked him as the 26th player overall, in the second round. He played 66 games for the Pacers during the 1985-86 season. In these games, he averaged about 5 points, almost 2 rebounds, and less than 1 assist per game.
Playing for Other Teams
Bill Martin continued his professional basketball career with several other teams. After playing for the Indiana Pacers, he joined the New York Knicks for part of the 1986-87 season. He also played for the Phoenix Suns later in 1987.

Bill married Jacki Carter in 2002 and they have a daughter.
