Billy Pierre Bakker, born on November 23, 1988, is a famous Dutch former field hockey player. He played as a midfielder or forward. Billy was a key player for the Netherlands national team.

Billy Bakker: A Field Hockey Star
Billy Bakker started playing hockey when he was just six years old. His first club was Randwijck. When he turned 10, he moved to a bigger club. This was the Amsterdam team.
Playing for Clubs
Billy joined Amsterdam's top senior team in 2007. He quickly became a leader on the field. By 2012, he was named the team captain. Under his leadership, Amsterdam won the Dutch national title twice. They won in the 2010–11 and 2011–12 seasons. This is the top league in the Netherlands, called the Hoofdklasse.
In 2017, Billy also played for a team in India. He joined the Kalinga Lancers in the Hockey India League. He helped them win their league title that year.
Playing for the Netherlands
Billy Bakker first played for the Netherlands national team in 2009. His debut was at the 2009 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy. He quickly became a very important player for his country.
He competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. His team won a silver medal there. This was a huge achievement for the Dutch team. Billy was also the captain of the Netherlands team. He led them at the 2018 Men's Hockey World Cup. They won another silver medal at this big event.
Billy was recognized for his great skills. He was nominated for the FIH Player of the Year Award in 2017 and 2018. This award goes to the best field hockey player in the world. After the 2020 Summer Olympics, Billy decided to retire from the national team.
