Billy Joe Green is from the Lac Seul First Nation in Kejick Bay. His father, David Green, was also a musician who played country music. When Billy Joe was young, he went through a difficult time, and music became a very important way for him to heal and express himself.
He started his music career in the late 1960s with a band called The Feathermen. Even though he played music for many years, he didn't release his first album, Roughin' It, until 1996. Since then, he has released eight more music albums.
