William Price Knight (born January 20, 1979 – died July 8, 2018) was an American professional basketball player. He was known for his skills as a shooting guard. Billy Knight played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. Later, he had a successful career playing for many teams in different countries, especially in Japan. He helped his teams win championships and was a top scorer.
Growing Up and Learning Basketball
Billy Knight grew up in Los Angeles, California. He went to Westchester High School. When he was a sophomore, he played as a reserve center. His dad believed that Billy needed a great jump shot to get a college scholarship. So, his dad set up dummies in their backyard. Billy had to practice shooting over these tall obstacles. This helped him become a fantastic jump shooter. By his senior year, he was one of the best shooters in the country. He decided to play college basketball at UCLA.
Playing Professional Basketball
Billy Knight had a long and exciting professional basketball career. He played for teams in many countries, including Sweden, France, Cyprus, Venezuela, and Qatar. But he became especially famous in Japan.
In the 2009–2010 season, Billy helped the Hamamatsu Higashimikawa Phoenix win their first-ever bj league championship. He was a key player, scoring almost 20 points per game. He and his teammate, Wendell White, were a powerful duo. Fans called them the "White-Knight Show."
Later, in 2012–2013, Billy also helped the Hyogo Storks win their first championship. This time, it was the Japan Basketball League (JBL2) title. Billy Knight was a talented player who made a big impact on the teams he played for.
