Birgit Zotz (born August 7, 1979) is an Austrian writer. She is also a cultural anthropologist, which means she studies human societies and cultures. Birgit Zotz is an expert in how to manage hotels and tourism, known as hospitality management studies.
Who is Birgit Zotz?
Birgit Zotz was born in Waidhofen an der Thaya, a town in Lower Austria. She grew up in two different areas: the Waldviertel region and the city of Vienna. From 1993 to 1997, she studied saxophone at the Franz Schubert Konservatorium in Vienna.
She went on to earn two master's degrees. In 2008, she got a master's in tourism studies from Johannes Kepler University of Linz. Later, she earned another master's degree in ethnology from Vienna University. Ethnology is a field that studies different cultures. She is married to Volker Zotz, who is a well-known Austrian philosopher and writer.

Birgit Zotz has written many books, essays, and articles. Her writings often focus on Buddhist culture and mysticism. She also writes about how places create their "image" to attract tourists.
She teaches at the International College of Tourism and Management in Bad Vöslau. Since 2005, she has been the President of Komyoji. This is an important center in Austria for studying Buddhism. Birgit Zotz also researches the life and ideas of Lama Anagarika Govinda. She even wrote a book about him.
