Early Life and Music
Bizzy was born in New Zealand. When he was seven years old, he moved to Washington, D.C., in the United States. There, he was introduced to East Coast hip-hop music by his family. This style of music had a big impact on him.
In 1995, he went to a music school back in New Zealand. He used what he learned to become a DJ at local clubs. He later studied at The School of Audio Engineering to become an expert in sound.
Career in South Korea
In 2001, Bizzy moved to South Korea to start his music career. He tried out for many music companies, but they wanted him to be a backup singer for pop groups. Bizzy said no because he wanted to be a true rapper.
During this time, he met the rapper Yang Dong-geun (YDG) and joined his hip-hop crew, Yucka Squad. He also became a member of another famous crew called The Movement. A fellow member, Sean2Slow, noticed that Bizzy was "always busy," which is how he got his stage name.
In 2002, he recorded his first song, "We Movin' In," for a compilation album. He became an important rapper and DJ in Yucka Squad. When the group Drunken Tiger needed a new member, Tiger JK asked Bizzy to join them as a DJ and performer. Soon, he was also helping to produce their music and was featured on their sixth album. In 2008, he released his own EP called Bizzionary.
Forming the Group MFBTY
For a long time, Bizzy performed with Drunken Tiger and another famous rapper, Yoon Mi-rae. In 2013, the three of them decided to form their own group called MFBTY. The name stands for "My Fans are Better Than Yours."
MFBTY left their old music label and started their own, called Feel Ghood Music, in 2013. The group later released music under the Drunken Tiger name, including the popular album "The Cure."
Working with Other Artists
Besides his work with MFBTY, Bizzy is also a talented songwriter and producer. He often collaborates with other famous musicians, which is called being a "feature artist."
Early in his career, he worked with YDG on his first three albums. He has also worked with other hip-hop artists like Leessang and Bobby Kim. Bizzy has even collaborated with artists outside of hip-hop, like Jay Park and Son Hoyoung. He continues to write songs and perform with many different artists in the Korean music scene.
