Blackgum is a small community in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. It's also a "census-designated place," which means the U.S. Census Bureau counts its population separately. In 2010, about 51 people lived there. Oklahoma State Highway 100 goes right through Blackgum.
Blackgum used to have its own post office for about 100 years, from 1895 to 1995. The community got its name from the blackgum tree, which is a type of tree often found in the area.
