About Blak Douglas
Blak Douglas is a proud Dhungatti man. The Dhungatti people are an Aboriginal group from the Macleay Valley in northern New South Wales. He also has family roots from Ireland, Scotland, England, and Germany. This mix of cultures often inspires his artwork.
His Art and Career

Early Works
In 2008, when he was known as Adam Hill, Douglas created special artwork for the outside of the Gadigal Information Service buildings. This service helps share Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture through media. His work helped make these new recording studios and offices look amazing.
Recognized Artworks
Blak Douglas has been recognized many times for his art. He was a finalist for the famous Archibald Prize in 2015 with his painting Smoke and mirrors – Uncle Max Eulo. He was also a finalist in 2018 for his portrait of Uncle Roy Kennedy. The Archibald Prize is one of Australia's most important art awards for portraits.
