Blake Thomas Beemer (born March 4, 1991) is a baseball coach and a former player. He used to play as an outfielder and first baseman. Today, he is the head baseball coach for the Butler Bulldogs. He played college baseball at Ball State University.
Playing Baseball in College
Blake Beemer grew up in Dayton, Ohio. He went to Northmont High School there. He was a great baseball player for three years. He also played soccer! In his senior year (2009), he hit the ball really well. His batting average was .422, which is excellent.
Beemer then went to Ball State University. He played baseball for the Cardinals team. In 2010, his first year, he played in 51 games. He started 45 of those games. He hit 2 home runs and helped his team score 28 runs batted in (RBIs). He also hit 11 doubles and scored 40 runs.
After his great first year, people had high hopes for Blake in 2011. But his batting average dropped to .212 by March 7. This is sometimes called a "sophomore slump." By the end of that year, his batting average went up to .273. He hit 1 home run that season. In 2012, as a junior, he hit 0 home runs but had 9 doubles. His senior year was better. He led his team in doubles (16), triples (3), and walks (28).
Coaching Baseball
Blake Beemer started his coaching career at Penn State University. He was a volunteer assistant coach there. He helped the team's outfielders. He also coached first base during games.
In the summer of 2015, Beemer joined the Eastern Illinois Panthers. He became their top assistant coach. He was also in charge of finding new players, called the recruiting coordinator. He helped recruit talented players like Trey Sweeney and Will Klein. These players later got picked early in the Major League Baseball drafts. In 2018, he went back to Ball State. He became the recruiting coordinator for the Cardinals team.
On June 21, 2022, Blake Beemer got a big job. He was named the head coach of the Butler Bulldogs.
