Her Life Story
Blanca grew up in a town called Orihuela, where her family still lives today. She went to a school named El Colegio de Jesus-Maria de San Agustin. After that, she studied philology in Murcia. Philology is the study of language in written historical sources.
When she was 20 years old, Blanca moved to Madrid. She did not finish her studies formally. In Madrid, she met a writer named Francisco Umbral. He helped her meet other important writers and artists in the city. These people are sometimes called the "literati."
In 1980, Blanca won a special award for poetry called the Premio Adonáis de Poesía. She won it for her work titled De una niña de provincias que se vino a vivir en un Chagall. Her writing style, which used a lot of surrealism, was seen as the start of a new period in poetry called the Post-Modern Generation. Surrealism is an art style that mixes real things with dream-like or imaginary things. Later in her career, Blanca tried to write in ways that were less surreal.
