The Bloom Festival is Ireland's biggest garden show! It's a huge five-day event held every year in Phoenix Park, Dublin. Think of it as a giant outdoor party for plants, flowers, and delicious food. It started in 2007 and is organized by Bord Bia, which is like Ireland's food and horticulture board.

About Bloom Festival
How it Started
The very first Bloom Festival happened in June 2007. It was officially opened by the then President of Ireland, Mary McAleese. The President is the head of state for Ireland.
By 2010, the festival was already growing. About 8,000 people visited on the opening day that year. Even important guests like the Chinese ambassador and the Earl of Rosse attended. A famous garden judge, Andrew Wilson, also helped judge the beautiful gardens. That year, there were 24 different gardens spread across 10 acres of Phoenix Park. One of the gardens was designed by the winner of Super Garden, a TV show from RTÉ (Ireland's national broadcaster).
What You Can See
Over the years, Bloom has featured many amazing things. You can find professional gardeners showing off their skills. There's also a special market where you can buy artisan food, which means food made by hand with care. Famous chefs often give cooking demonstrations too!
The festival has become more and more focused on food since it began. This is because Bord Bia, the organizer, also promotes Irish food. So, while gardens are still a big part, tasty food has become a huge attraction too.
Growing Popularity
Bloom Festival has always attracted many visitors. In 2010, about 60,000 people came. By 2019, nearly 120,000 people were attending! With so many visitors, there can sometimes be long queues and more traffic in the area. The festival organizers suggest that people use public transport to get to the event. This helps everyone have a smoother and more enjoyable visit.
A Special Year
The 2020 Bloom Festival was cancelled. This happened because of the important health and safety rules put in place during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. It was a necessary step to keep everyone safe.
