Blue's Clues & You! is a fun and interactive TV show for kids. It mixes live-action with computer animation. This show is a new version of the popular 1996 series called Blue's Clues. It has a new host, Joshua Dela Cruz. The original creators, Angela C. Santomero and Traci Paige Johnson, helped make this new show. It first aired on November 11, 2019.

What is Blue's Clues & You! About?

This show is a lot like the first Blue's Clues. It features a real person as the host in a cartoon world. The characters, except for the host, are made with digital animation. But the show still looks similar to the original.

The show encourages kids to play along and solve puzzles. It has quiet moments built in, so viewers can think and answer questions. The creators wanted to bring the show back because many adults remembered it fondly. Even though kids today use more technology, they still need to slow down and learn in a fun way.

Main Characters

• Blue (voiced by Traci Paige Johnson) – Blue is a cute blue puppy. She leaves pawprints on things to give clues about what she wants to do.
• Josh (played by Joshua Dela Cruz) – Josh is the friendly host of the show. He is the cousin of Steve and Joe from the original series.
• Mailbox (voiced by Doug Murray) – Mailbox delivers a letter or email to Josh every day.
• Sidetable Drawer (voiced by Liyou Abere in season 1 and Shazdeh Kapadia in season 2) – Sidetable Drawer keeps the Handy Dandy Notebook safe. She lives in the living room.
• Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper (voiced by Brad Adamson and Gisele Rousseau) – This married couple are condiment shakers. They live in the kitchen.
• Paprika (voiced by Shechinah Mpumlwana) – Paprika is Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper's oldest child. She has a toy cell phone made from bread.
• Cinnamon (voiced by Jaiden Cannatelli) – Cinnamon is Paprika's younger brother. He wears a cool baseball cap.
• Sage and Ginger – These are Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper's new twin babies. Paprika and Cinnamon are learning to help take care of them.
• Shovel and Pail (voiced by Leo Orgil and Jordana Blake) – This brother and sister duo live in the backyard.
• Tickety Tock (voiced by Ava Augustin) – Tickety Tock is an alarm clock. She wakes everyone up in the Blue's Clues House.
• Slippery Soap (voiced by Jacob Soley) – Slippery Soap is a bar of soap. He lives in the bathroom sink and slides around a lot!
• Magenta (voiced by Diane Salema) – Magenta is a magenta-colored puppy. She is Blue's best friend from school.

• Steve (played by Steve Burns) – Steve is Josh's cousin and Joe's older brother. He used to be the first host of the original show. Now he works at the Blue Prints Detective Agency.
• Joe (played by Donovan Patton) – Joe is Josh's other cousin and Steve's younger brother. He was the second host of the original show. Now he works at the Present Store.
• Lola (played by Carolyn Fe) – Lola is Josh's grandmother. She is originally from the Philippines.

How the Show is Made

In 2017, the original creators, Angela C. Santomero and Traci Paige Johnson, got permission to make a new Blue's Clues show. They had wanted to bring it back for many years.

Nickelodeon held auditions for the new host in 2018. Over a thousand people tried out for the role! On September 13, 2018, it was announced that Joshua Dela Cruz would be the new host. He was known for being an understudy in the Broadway musical Aladdin. Joshua watched the original show when he was a kid. He is the first Asian-American host of Blue's Clues. Even Steve Burns, the first host, helped with choosing the new host.

The show is made by 9 Story Media Group and Brown Bag Films. The animators updated the show for today's kids. For example, the handy dandy notebook now looks like a smartphone. Emails arrive during mail time instead of regular letters. The show is filmed in Toronto, Canada.

The first preview of the show was released in May 2019. An extended version of the theme song came out in August. The show premiered on November 11, 2019. The original hosts, Steve Burns and Donovan Patton, even appeared in the first episode! Steve Burns was unsure about returning at first. But fans on social media convinced him to be part of the show again.

Blue's Clues & You! has been very popular. It was renewed for a second season in November 2019. Then it was renewed for a third season in February 2020, and a fourth season in February 2021.

Episodes

Blue's Clues & You! has many exciting episodes. Each episode features Blue and Josh solving a new puzzle. They look for Blue's pawprints to find clues. The show helps kids learn about numbers, letters, colors, and feelings. It also teaches them how to solve problems.

Where to Watch

The series first aired on Nickelodeon in the United States on November 11, 2019. Some episodes were available to watch early on Vudu. In Canada, the show also premiered on Treehouse TV on the same day.
