A Glimpse into Blue Lick's Past
Blue Lick has a simple but interesting history. A post office, which is a place where mail is sent and received, was opened here in 1837. This post office served the community for many years until it closed down in 1905.
The community got its name from a nearby stream called Blue Lick Creek. The creek itself was named because of the color of the rocks in its riverbed. These rocks were a type of stone called blue slate, which gave the water a bluish look.
