Blue Warehou vs. Bluenose Warehou
It's easy to confuse the blue warehou with another fish called the bluenose warehou. In New Zealand, the bluenose warehou is often just called "bluenose." Other names for it include "bonita," "big-eye," or "Griffin's silverfish."
The main difference is where they live. The bluenose warehou is a deepwater fish. This means it lives much deeper in the ocean compared to the blue warehou. Both are part of the broader warehou family, but they are distinct species.
