Bluestem is a small, unincorporated community located in Lincoln County, Washington. An unincorporated community is a place that doesn't have its own local government, but it's still a recognized area where people live.
History of Bluestem
The community of Bluestem got its start when a post office opened there in 1906. This post office helped people send and receive mail until it closed in 1951. The name "Bluestem" comes from the bluestem wheat fields that were common near where the town was first built. Wheat is a very important crop grown in this part of Washington.
