Sir Bob Bofeng Dadae, born on March 8, 1961, is an important leader in Papua New Guinea. He has been the governor-general of Papua New Guinea since 2017. He is the tenth person to hold this special job. As Governor-General, he represents the King of the United Kingdom in Papua New Guinea.

Learning and Early Work
Sir Bob's School Days
Sir Bob Dadae went to school at Ombo Lutheran Agency in Derim. He also studied at Bugandi High School. After high school, he continued his education at university.
University Studies and Degrees
He earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1988. He got this degree from the University of Papua New Guinea. Later, in 1995, he completed a Master of Business Administration degree. This advanced degree was from Griffith University in Australia.
Before Politics: An Accountant
Before he became a politician, Sir Bob worked as an accountant. He worked for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea. He was also a board member for Christian Press. This company publishes books and other materials.
Sir Bob's Political Journey
Starting in Parliament
Sir Bob Dadae began his political career in 2002. He was elected to the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea. He represented the Kabwum Open area. He was part of the United Party. After the election, he became the deputy leader of his party.
Becoming Deputy Speaker
In 2004, Sir Bob took on a new role. He became the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament. This means he helped lead the discussions and rules in the Parliament.
Serving as Defence Minister
He was re-elected to Parliament in 2007. From 2007 to 2011, he served as the Minister for Defence. This was under the leadership of Prime Minister Michael Somare. As Defence Minister, he was in charge of the country's military and security.
Joining a New Party
In 2011, there was a change in government. Sir Bob Dadae then joined a different political group. He moved to the People's National Congress party. He was re-elected under this new party in 2012.
Governor-General of Papua New Guinea
Taking on a New Role
Sir Bob Dadae became the tenth Governor-General of Papua New Guinea. He started this important job on February 28, 2017. He took over from Michael Ogio.
Special Awards and Honors
For his service, Sir Bob received special honors. On May 5, 2017, he was appointed to the Order of St Michael and St George. He also joined the Order of St John on August 18, 2017. These are very respected awards.
Serving a Second Term
In December 2022, Sir Bob was nominated to continue as Governor-General. He ran for a second term against Winnie Kiap and Stephen Pokawin. Sir Bob won the election. He was sworn in for his second term on March 16, 2023. He continues to serve in this high office.
Personal Life

Family and Marriages
Sir Bob Dadae first married Hannah Dadae on January 14, 1989. They had five children together. Sadly, Lady Hannah Dadae passed away on December 4, 2018. She had a short illness.
Sir Bob married Emeline Tufi Folau on January 11, 2020. Emeline is from Tonga.
