Robert "Bob" William Harrison (born August 12, 1927 – died March 3, 2024) was a talented American basketball player. He played as a guard and stood 6 feet, 1 inch tall. Bob Harrison spent nine seasons (1949–1958) playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
He was a key player for teams like the Minneapolis Lakers, Milwaukee Hawks, St. Louis Hawks, and Syracuse Nationals. During his career, he helped his teams win three NBA championships. He was also chosen to play in the 1956 NBA All-Star Game. After his playing days, Harrison became a basketball coach.

Bob Harrison's Basketball Journey
Bob Harrison was born in Toledo, Ohio. He loved basketball from a young age. He went to Woodward High School. Later, he played college basketball at the University of Michigan.
An Amazing Game in School
When Bob was just 13 years old, he did something incredible. On February 3, 1941, he played a game for his LaGrange School team. In that game, he scored all 139 points for his team! His team won 139–8 against Arch Street School. He made 69 field goals and one free throw. This was a truly special moment in his early career.
Playing in the NBA
After college, Bob Harrison joined the NBA in 1949. He was drafted by the Minneapolis Lakers. He played for the Lakers for several years. During his time there, he helped them win three NBA championships. These wins happened in 1950, 1952, and 1953. He was a very important part of those championship teams.
He later played for the Milwaukee Hawks and the St. Louis Hawks. He also played for the Syracuse Nationals. Throughout his NBA career, he averaged 7.2 points per game. He was known for his steady play and teamwork. In 1956, he was selected as an NBA All-Star. This means he was one of the best players in the league that year.
Life After Playing: Coaching
After retiring as a player in 1958, Bob Harrison became a basketball coach. He coached at Kenyon College for many years. He also coached at Harvard University. He shared his knowledge and love for the game with younger players. He even coached the Syracuse Centenials in the Eastern Basketball Association for a season.
Bob Harrison passed away on March 3, 2024, at the age of 96. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living NBA Champion.
