Bob Jones, Sr. (born October 30, 1883 – died January 16, 1968) was an American Christian leader. He was a traveling speaker, known as an evangelist, and he started Bob Jones University. He was born as the eleventh of twelve children to William and Georgia Jones.
Early Life and Family
Bob Jones, Sr. married Bernice Sheffield in 1905. Sadly, she passed away within a year of their marriage. On June 17, 1908, he married Mary Gaston Stollenwerck. She was a member of a choir he met. Their only child, Bob Jones, Jr., was born on October 19, 1911, in Montgomery.
