Robert Achille Schiller (born November 8, 1918 – died October 10, 2017) was a talented American writer for television. He was often called Bob Schiller. He wrote for many popular TV shows in the United States. He worked a lot with his friend and writing partner, Bob Weiskopf. Together, they wrote for famous shows like I Love Lucy and All in the Family. Bob Schiller even won an Emmy Award in 1978 for his writing on All in the Family.
Life as a Writer
Bob Schiller was born in San Francisco, California. His father was a manufacturer. Bob started his writing career in 1950, focusing on television shows.
Early TV and Radio Work
In 1955, Bob Schiller actually acted in a TV show called Professional Father. But he was mostly known for his writing. In the same year, he wrote for two different shows: The Jimmy Durante Show on NBC and It's Always Jan on CBS. From 1954 to 1955, he also wrote for That's My Boy.
Besides TV, Bob Schiller also wrote scripts for classic radio shows. These included Duffy's Tavern, Abbott and Costello, and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. He also wrote for famous TV stars like Danny Thomas and Red Buttons.
Working with Bob Weiskopf
Bob Schiller's most important partnership began in 1953 with Bob Weiskopf. Bob Weiskopf was also a comedy writer. They became great friends and writing partners.
Their first project together was a radio script for the Our Miss Brooks show. After that, they started writing for the new and exciting world of television. They wrote for many popular shows in the 1950s, such as:

Bob Schiller and Bob Weiskopf won many awards for their amazing work. They received two Emmy Awards, two Peabody Awards, and a Golden Globe. They also won the Writers’ Guild of America's Paddy Chayefsky Laurel Award for Television Achievement. These awards show how much their writing was loved and respected.
Personal Life
Bob Schiller was married twice. His first wife, Joyce Harris, passed away in 1965. They had two children together, including director Tom Schiller.
In 1968, Bob married actress Sabrina Scharf. They also had two children. Bob Schiller passed away on October 10, 2017, in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, California.
