It is southwest of a larger town called Clarksdale. In 2020, about 118 people lived in Bobo.
History of Bobo
Bobo was named after a famous person! It got its name from Robert E. Bobo, who was a world-champion bear hunter. Imagine having a whole community named after you!
This area was once located along the Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad. This railroad was very important for transportation and trade back then. Bobo used to be a busy little place. It had six general stores where people could buy almost anything they needed. There was also a grocery store for food and two sawmills. Sawmills are places where logs are cut into lumber.
A post office served the community of Bobo for many years. It opened in 1886 and closed in 1973.
