Bobo is a popular children's magazine. It started in the Netherlands and is published by Blink Publishers. The magazine is named after its main character, Bobo, a friendly blue rabbit who is nine years old.

The Dutch Bobo magazine has been published since 1968. It features comics and stories. Each issue focuses on a different topic. The magazine aims to teach young children in a fun way. It is often given out in primary schools.

Since 2010, Bobo has grown a lot. It now has its own apps and even a TV show that started in 2011. There's also an online learning program for classrooms. Plus, you can find many Bobo toys and products.

Bobo in Indonesia

The Indonesian version of Bobo magazine first came out on April 14, 1973. Unlike the Dutch version, this one is made for school-aged kids. It is published by Kompas Gramedia Group. Bobo became the most popular kids' magazine in Indonesia. Its motto is "teman bermain dan belajar," which means "friend for play and study."

In 1990, the lowercase 'b' on the Bobo mascot's shirt changed to a capital 'B'. This was to make the Indonesian mascot look different from the Dutch one. However, it soon changed back to a lowercase 'b'.

Fun Sections in Indonesian Bobo

The Indonesian Bobo magazine has many special parts. Here are some of them:

  • Cergam (Picture Stories): These are like comics but without speech bubbles. Some popular series include "Cergam Bobo" and "Bona the little elephant with long trunk."
  • Chosen Stories: This section has a collection of short stories for readers to enjoy.
  • FB Friends Story: Readers can send their ideas on Facebook to help create these stories.
  • Dear Nirmala: This is an advice column. Readers can send questions by Facebook, and two letters are answered each week.
  • Halamanku: This page shows off fan art and poems sent in by readers.
  • Arena Kecil (Little Arena): Here, readers can share their fun and memorable experiences.
  • Tak Disangka (Unexpected): This is a place for readers to tell embarrassing or funny stories.
  • Kreatif: This page gives a new art idea every week.
  • Potret Negeriku (The Portrait Of My Nation): This section features interesting facts about different parts of Indonesia.
  • Keliling Dunia (Travel Around the World): Similar to "Potret Negeriku," but it focuses on places outside Indonesia.
  • Ensiklo Bobo: This part is full of cool facts from around the world. It often covers science, math, or history.
  • Sayembara Bobo (Bobo Quiz): This is a quiz section, often a crossword puzzle. Kids can send in the right answers to win prizes.

Bobo Events and Online

Bobo magazine in Indonesia also organizes yearly events. These events are held in Jakarta and Surabaya.

  • Bobo Fair: This event has many fun activities for readers.
  • Operet Bobo: This was a yearly musical show. It later joined with the Bobo Fair.

In 2010, the magazine got a fresh new look. In 2012, Bobo magazine Indonesia launched Bobo Online, its official website. This website was later replaced by Kidnesia.com in 2016. However, on April 14, 2017, Bobo brought back its original website, Bobo.id. This was to celebrate Bobo's 44th anniversary in Indonesia.

Kompas Gramedia Group also publishes Bobo Junior. This magazine is for preschool kids. It has similar content to the Dutch Bobo magazine.
