The Story of Boca Burger
The company that makes Boca Burgers, Boca Foods, started way back in 1979. Their very first product was called the "Sun Burger." It was one of the first frozen, plant-based burgers you could buy!
Over the next ten years, Boca Foods introduced many more products. They made meatless versions of things like ground beef, chicken nuggets, and even toppings for pizza. They also created chili, lasagna, and sausages that were all made from plants. In 2001, they even started making organic versions of some of their popular products.
In the year 2000, a very big food company called Kraft Foods decided to buy Boca Burger, Inc. Kraft Foods is one of the largest packaged food companies in the United States. This purchase helped Boca Burger products reach even more stores across the country.
Boca Burger products are sold in regular grocery stores, club stores, and natural food stores. They are also used in restaurants and food service places. In 1999, Boca Burger's sales were about $40 million, and by 2002, they had grown to $70 million each year!
As of 2020, Boca also offers meatless skillet meals, which are easy to cook in a pan.
