This forest covers a huge area of about 267 hectares. That is like 660 football fields! About 174 hectares of this land belongs to the City of Longueuil.
Amazing Nature
The Boisé du Tremblay has a very special mix of plants and animals. This is called its biodiversity. It is unique in the Montérégie region. The forest is an important natural space for Greater Montreal. It also connects to the Mont Saint-Bruno Forest Corridor. This corridor helps animals move around safely.
Many different plants and animals live here. One very special animal is the Western chorus frog. This small frog is important to protect.
Protecting the Boisé
In January 2012, the City of Longueuil asked for the Boisé du Tremblay to be officially recognized. They wanted it to become a Wildlife Reserve. This request was sent to the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources and Wildlife. Making it a Wildlife Reserve helps protect the forest and all its creatures for the future.
