Mont Saint-Bruno is a mountain in southern Quebec, Canada. It is part of a group of mountains called the Monteregian Hills. The top of Mont Saint-Bruno is about 213 meters (700 feet) high. It is located about 23 kilometers (14 miles) east of downtown Montreal.
This mountain is a fun place with a ski resort, a natural park, and even an apple orchard! Many different kinds of trees grow on its slopes, like beech, maple, oak, and pine. Some areas have been cleared for farming or skiing. The apple orchard is a special farm where scientists study how to grow apples better.
Part of the mountain is protected as Mont-Saint-Bruno National Park. This park is a great place to explore nature. You can also find ski slopes here, known as Ski Mont Saint-Bruno. There is also a quarry on the mountain, which is a place where rocks are dug out of the ground. Mont Saint-Bruno also has a small training camp where new members of the Canadian Forces learn important skills like how to read maps.
How Mont Saint-Bruno Was Formed
Mont Saint-Bruno was created a very long time ago, about 125 million years ago! Scientists believe it might be the deep part of an ancient volcano that has mostly worn away. The mountain formed when the North American Plate (a huge piece of the Earth's crust) moved over a very hot spot deep inside the Earth. This hot spot also helped create the other mountains in the Monteregian Hills. The rocks that make up Mont Saint-Bruno are mostly types of igneous rock, which are rocks formed from cooled magma or lava.
