What Bolander's Spikerush Looks Like

This plant is a perennial herb. This means it grows back every year from underground stems. It has straight stems that do not have any hair. These stems can grow to be about 10 to 30 centimeters tall. That's about 4 to 12 inches.

Its leaves are thin and wispy. They often have purple or reddish spots. The bottom parts of the leaves can also look purple. At the very top of each stem, there is a small flower cluster. This cluster is shaped like an oval. It is less than a centimeter long. It holds several dark brown flowers. Sometimes these flowers have a purple color too.
