Bold Springs, Georgia facts for kids
Bold Springs is a small place in Walton County, Georgia, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's managed by the county. You can find Bold Springs near Georgia State Route 81 and Bold Springs Road. There's also a cool park there called Bold Springs Park, which is about 3 acres big and run by Walton County Parks & Recreation. Sometimes, people just call the area "Bold Spring."
A Look Back: The History of Bold Springs
The first people started living in the Bold Springs area around the year 1899. The community got its name from a natural spring nearby, which probably provided fresh water.
For a short time, Bold Springs was known by a different name. In 1908, the state government of Georgia, called the Georgia General Assembly, decided to make it an official town. They gave it the name Williamsville. This meant it would have its own local rules and leaders.
But this change didn't last long! Less than a year later, in 1909, the same state government changed its mind. They "repealed its charter," which means they took away its official town status. So, Bold Springs went back to being called by its original name, "Bold Springs," and continued to be an unincorporated community.
