Bolgatty Palace is a beautiful old building in India. It's located on Bolgatty Island in Kochi, Kerala. The Dutch people built this palace a long time ago. Today, it's a popular hotel and a great place for tourists to visit!

History of Bolgatty Palace

Bolgatty Palace is one of the oldest Dutch palaces outside of Holland. It was built in 1744 by Dutch traders. Later, more parts were added, and lovely gardens were created around it.

This building was once the home of the Dutch Governor. He was in charge of the Dutch area called Malabar. In 1909, the palace was rented to the British.

During the time when India was ruled by the British (called the British Raj), this palace was the home of the British governors. They were important officials who represented the British government.

In 1947, India became an independent country. The palace then became property of the state government. It was later turned into a special hotel resort.

What Can You Do at Bolgatty Palace?
