Bolton, Missouri facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Bolton is a small place in eastern Harrison County, Missouri, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community," which means it's a group of homes and buildings that doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.

Where is Bolton?

Bolton is located on a raised area of land, like a small hill. To the east, there's a stream called Cat Creek, and to the west, there's Fox Creek. It's about ten miles (or 16 kilometers) southeast of a larger town called Bethany. Close by, to the northeast, you can find the Wayne Helton Memorial State Wildlife Area, which is a place for nature and animals.

A Look Back: Bolton's History

Bolton has been around for a long time. In 1858, a post office was opened there, which helped people send and receive letters. This post office stayed open for many years, finally closing in 1903. Before it was widely known as Bolton, the area had another name: "Browns." This name came from the Brown family, who lived in the area a long time ago.
