Boo (character) facts for kids

Boos (pronounced like "boo!") are spooky ghost characters from the popular Mario and Yoshi video games. Their Japanese name is Teresa. They first appeared in the game Super Mario Bros. 3. Since then, Boos have become a very common enemy in the Mario games.

Sometimes, Boos even become playable characters in Mario spin-off games, like racing or sports games. In some adventures, such as Paper Mario, they can even help Mario on his journey! Their name comes from the sound people make when they want to scare someone.

How Boos Act

Boos usually attack players by sneaking up from behind. They are very shy! If a player turns to look at them, Boos will quickly hide their faces. This makes them stop moving.

It's usually hard to defeat a Boo without special items or powers. They are often invincible to regular attacks. The voice of Boos is provided by Sanae Susaki.

Where Boos Appear

Boos are found in many different Mario and Yoshi games. They often live in haunted mansions or spooky areas. They are a classic enemy that players expect to see in many of Mario's adventures.
