Getting There and Trail Info

You can park your car on Mountain Road. This spot is about 5 mi (8.0 km) north of Willimantic. The main trail starts from here. It goes around the south and east sides of Midday Pond. Then, it climbs up the west side of the mountain. The total distance from the parking lot to the top is about 3 mi (4.8 km).

The Museum Cabin

Along the trail, just south of Midday Pond, you'll find a small cabin. This cabin has a museum inside! It's open from late May (Memorial Day) until early October (Columbus Day). It's a nice place to take a break and learn a bit about the area.

The Final Climb

The very last part of the trail to the summit is quite steep. It has sharp rocks, so you need to be careful. To help hikers, there are iron rungs (like small ladders) in the rocks. These rungs make the climb safer and easier.
