Borio is a popular cookie brand from Egypt. It is very similar to the famous Oreo cookie. A Borio cookie has two chocolate biscuits with a creamy filling in the middle. These cookies are a favorite treat for many people in Egypt.

What is Borio?

Borio is a type of cookie that is well-known in Egypt. It is made with two dark, chocolatey biscuits. Between these biscuits is a sweet, white cream filling. This design makes it look and taste much like the Oreo cookie.

Borio and Oreo: A Sweet Connection

The original Oreo cookie was first made in the United States in 1912. It was created by a company called Nabisco. Borio cookies, however, are made and sold in Egypt. They are produced by a company called Family Nutrition. Even though they come from different places, both cookies offer a similar delicious experience.

Who Owns Borio?

For a while, Borio and Oreo were owned by different companies. Then, in 2000, a large food company called Kraft Foods Inc. bought Nabisco. This meant Kraft Foods now owned Oreo. A few years later, in 2003, Kraft Foods also bought Family Nutrition, the company that makes Borio.

This made both Borio and Oreo part of the same big company. Later, in 2012, Kraft Foods changed its name to Mondelēz International. So, today, Mondelēz International owns both the Borio and Oreo cookie brands.
