The Borrowash Methodist Church is a special building located in Borrowash, a village in Derbyshire, England. It's a place where people come together for worship and community activities.
History of the Church Building
This church was built a long time ago, in 1900. A builder named Henry Vernon from Derby constructed it. The design for the church came from an architect named John Wills. Interestingly, John Wills designed a very similar church in Beeston during the same year!
The Borrowash Methodist Church officially opened its doors on May 30, 1900. It was designed to hold about 415 people. Building it cost around £2,250 back then, which was a lot of money!
The Church Organ
Inside the church, there is a beautiful pipe organ. This organ was made by J.H. Adkins of Derby in 1920. Organs like this are very complex musical instruments. They use pipes of different sizes to make many sounds. You can find more details about this specific organ on the National Pipe Organ Register.
