History of Bot

The Old Railway Line

A long time ago, a Renfe railway line used to go through Bot. Renfe is Spain's national railway company. This train line connected Bot to bigger cities like Tortosa, Alcañiz, and Zaragoza.

The train was very important for the people of Bot. They even called it "el tramvia," which means "the tramway," because they loved it so much.

Why the Train Line Closed

Sadly, the train line closed in 1973. This happened because a group called the World Bank suggested that Spain should focus its money on bigger, busier train lines. They thought the lines connecting smaller, rural areas like Bot were not used enough.

After the line closed, the train tracks were taken away. Today, the old Bot train station buildings are empty.

What Bot is Known For

Bot is famous for its wine production. The people here have been making wine for many generations. This tradition is a big part of the town's culture and economy.
