The Bowna Football Club
A football club was started in Bowna in 1911. They played friendly games against teams from other nearby towns until 1915. The club was restarted in 1920 after World War Two.
The Bowna team was quite good in the early 1920s.
- In 1921, they were runners-up in the Albury B. Grade Football Association premiership. They lost to St. Patrick's FC.
- In 1922, they were runners-up again, this time losing to the Lavington Football Club.
- In 1923, Bowna finished first in the regular season. However, they lost the grand final to Jindera in a very close game. The final score was a tie, but Jindera won based on rules at the time.
The Bowna Football Club played in different leagues for a few more years. They competed in the Albury & Border Football Association in 1925 and 1926. After a short break in 1927, they joined the Central Hume Football Association in 1928. The club then stopped playing permanently after the 1928 football season.
