Becoming the Lone Ranger
Brace Beemer became the third radio voice of the Lone Ranger. This happened on April 18, 1941. He took over after the previous actor, Earle Graser, passed away. Beemer played the Lone Ranger until the show's last new episode. This was on September 3, 1954.
He played the character for 13 years. During this time, his contract said he could only act as the Lone Ranger on radio. He could not take other radio acting jobs.
When the Lone Ranger TV show started, Clayton Moore became the TV actor. Beemer had a great voice for the Ranger. He also made many public appearances as the character. However, he preferred live radio acting over TV. Moore, the TV actor, even copied Beemer's voice at first. This shows how well-known Beemer's voice was.
Other Acting Roles
After the Lone Ranger radio series ended, Beemer had another role. He played Sergeant William Preston of the Yukon. This was for a short time on the show Challenge of the Yukon.
Brace Beemer's last TV appearance was an interview. He spoke with former film actor Bill Kennedy. This was on Kennedy's At the Movies show. The show was on CKLW TV9 from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Beemer passed away the day after this interview.
