What Does the Bracted Grevillea Look Like?
This amazing shrub usually grows to be about 0.5 to 2 metres (2 to 7 ft) tall. It has an open shape, meaning its branches spread out. Its leaves are a pretty grey-green color and can be up to 8 centimetres (3 in) long.
Beautiful Flowers and Fruit
The Grevillea bracteosa produces lovely flowers that are often pink or grey. Sometimes, they can even be white! These flowers grow in clusters at the ends of the stems. They bloom from April to August, which is during autumn and winter in Australia.
Before the flowers open, they are protected by special leaf-like structures called bracts. After the flowers, the plant grows smooth, egg-shaped fruits. These fruits are about 12 to 20 millimetres (0.47 to 0.79 in) long.
Where Does This Plant Grow?
The bracted grevillea loves to grow in soils that have gravelly clay or gravelly sand. You can often find it growing among medium-sized trees or in areas called heathland.
This plant is found only in Western Australia. It lives in specific parts of the state, including the Mid West and Wheatbelt regions.
Different Types of Bracted Grevillea

- Grevillea bracteosa subsp. bracteosa
- Grevillea bracteosa subsp. howatharra
