Brad James (born July 7, 1978) is an American actor. He is most famous for playing the character Todd in the TV comedy series Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse.
Early Life and Military Service
Brad James was raised by his grandparents on his mother's side. Before he became an actor, he served for four years in the United States Marine Corps. He was part of combat units, which are groups trained for fighting.
While serving in the Marines in late 2000, he broke his ankle. The injury never healed correctly, but he is still known for being athletic and doing his own stunts in movies. During his military service, he also trained in several martial arts, including the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Acting Career
James started his acting career by appearing in commercials for big companies like Walmart and BlackBerry. His first major role was in the movie Champion Road, where he played the main character, John Merser.
In 2013, James's talent was recognized when he won the "Best Actor" award at the Georgia Entertainment Gala. That same year, he was cast as a character named Adam in the holiday movie Marry Me for Christmas. He has since appeared in many other movies and TV shows.
Personal Life
In September 2021, James married actress Keshia Knight Pulliam. They met in 2019 on the set of the TV movie Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta.
The couple announced they were expecting a baby in late 2022. They welcomed their son in April 2023. James is also a stepfather to Knight Pulliam's daughter, Ella, from her previous marriage to former National Football League player Edgerton Hartwell.
