Discovering Bran Nue Dae: A Groundbreaking Musical
This musical first opened in February 1990. It was part of the Festival of Perth. The show was directed by Andrew Ross. Michael Leslie was in charge of the dances. After its start in Perth, the musical went on a big tour across Australia.
Awards and Recognition for the Musical
Bran Nue Dae quickly became very popular. It won the Sidney Myer Performing Arts Awards in 1990. This award celebrates great achievements in Australian performing arts. The next year, the musical's script and music also won a special award. It was honored at the Western Australian Premier's Book Awards.
