History of the Brandywine Building
The Brandywine Building has an interesting history, showing how big companies can change over time.
Building Begins
Work on the Brandywine Building started in 1968. It was a big project to create more space for DuPont, a very large company.
Opening Day
The building was finished in 1970. DuPont used it as an important part of their headquarters in Wilmington. Many people worked there every day.
DuPont Moves Out
In 2005, DuPont started to become a smaller company. Because of this, they no longer needed as much office space. So, DuPont moved out of the Brandywine Building.
Citi Moves In
Just one year later, in 2006, a new company moved into the building. This was Citi, a large financial company. They began using the Brandywine Building for their offices.
Current Use
By 2017, Citi was still using the building, but not all of it. Only about half of the building was being used by Citi. The owners of the Brandywine Building have been working to find new businesses to fill the empty spaces.
