The Bras Saint-Michel flows through several areas. These include two regional county municipalities (MRCs):

The Bras Saint-Michel begins in the town of Saint-Henri. Its source is in an agricultural area. This starting point is about 3.8 kilometres (2.4 mi) west of Saint-Gervais village. It is also 9.5 kilometres (5.9 mi) east of Saint-Henri village. The river starts in a farming region.

  • Next, it travels 3.7 kilometres (2.3 mi) northeast. It borders La Durantaye and Saint-Raphaël.
  • The river continues for 3.2 kilometres (2.0 mi) northeast. It crosses Route 281 South.
  • Finally, it flows 4.1 kilometres (2.5 mi) northeast. For 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi), it forms the border between Saint-Vallier and Saint-Raphaël. It then enters Saint-François-de-la-Rivière-du-Sud.
