Brasher Falls–Winthrop used to be a special kind of community in St. Lawrence County, New York, called a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it was an area identified by the government for counting people. In the year 2000, about 1,140 people lived there.
Later, for the 2010 census, this area was split into two separate CDPs. These are now known as Brasher Falls and Winthrop. Brasher Falls is part of the Town of Brasher, and Winthrop is in the Town of Stockholm.

History of the Area
A special building called the Dr. Buck-Stevens House is located here. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. This means it's an important historical site.

The "Tri-Town" Area
A part of the Town of Lawrence is right next to this community. Because three towns (Brasher, Stockholm, and Lawrence) meet here, the area is often called "Tri-Town." Many local groups and businesses use this name.
The community is not far from larger villages like Massena, Potsdam, and Malone. Most people go to these places for shopping and other services. Big Canadian cities like Ottawa and Montreal are also just an hour or two away by car. The beautiful Lake Placid-Adirondack region is also nearby.
