History of Braxton
The village of Braxton got its name from Ira Braxton Standifer. He was the son of a doctor. In 2015, the village built a brand new town hall. This is where local government meetings happen. Braxton is about 9 miles north of Mendenhall. Mendenhall is the main town in Simpson County. It is also 19 miles north of Magee, which is the largest city in the county.
