The History of Brayton
Brayton began its story around 1887. This was when the Burlington railroad line was built through the area. The railroad was very important back then. It helped new communities grow by connecting them to other places. Brayton was probably named after one of the early settlers who lived there.

In 1888, a post office was opened in Brayton. A post office was a big deal for a small community. It meant people could send and receive letters and packages. This helped the community feel more connected to the outside world. The post office served the people of Brayton for many years. It finally closed its doors in 1945.
What Remains Today
Today, not much is left of the original village of Brayton. Its main street is now just a country road. It can be hard to spot the old remnants unless you know where to look.
